In the event of a team member failing to show up at all, I assume the team as an entirity forfeits?

The rules for an Army will not be changed because of one players bad experience. If a Player with a Necron army is having it phase out consistently, I am more than willing to give that player my wealth of experience in how to better run that Army, I will even run their army and win with it.

Yes, that's right. You are responsible for your Teammate Smiley
