Here we go again for hopefully another megathread.

My Crimson Fists army all started a few months ago with the purchase of a Vanguard Veterans squad. These models were the most detailed Space Marine models I had ever seen so I decided to paint them up as display pieces to sit on my bookshelf never to hit the tabletop. Well that changed. After competing in EL40K09, inspiration from another forum, getting the proverbial sh**s with my eldar colour scheme, VT3 coming around and finally having a metric crap tonne of Space Marine bits lying around I decided the Crimson Fists needed a home in my collections.

Why the Fists?
1. I was toying around with the idea of having a Space Wolves army but didn't want to get labeled for jumping on the bandwagon.
2. I really did not want to paint any more red. As much as I love my Blood Angels, I am so over their 2nd ed colour scheme. Red and Black are 2 of the worst colours to use together.
3. I really wanted a pocket Codex Marine army. I really like the idea and flexibility the Marines have in the 5th ed Codex.
4. Fingolfin on the wargamerau forums showed an effective and fast way of painting Crimson Fists which I took a further highlight to for more contrast.
5. I really love the back story to their Chapter. Nearly wiped out with not many remaining they valiantly fight on the rebuild the Chapter.
6. I have yet to see a Crimson Fists army painted at the Tin Soldier.

So thats the intro, so far I have painted 1x 5 man Vanguard squad (pics to come), 1x Captain (who I have named Cortez from the old 3rd ed Codex), and 7x Tactical Marines with the last 3 in their squad in various stages of painting.
One thing I really love with the plastic Marines (which I took for granted with my BA's) is the level of customisation. When you paint 100 + Cadians you get a lot of repeated poses. With all of my bits and new models I am really bulking out the Marines with lots of pouches, bolt pistols grenades etc.

Anyway here is a photo of Captain Cortez and my nearly completed Tactical Squad. All models are based on Back 2 Base-ix 25mm resin "ruins" bases.

Yeah - they put my Crimson Fists to shame. The eyepieces on the helmets look pretty sharp. It's time I wnet back to mine for the next Apocalypse game.

For CF completists all the survivors of the dustruction of their monstary is given in the Planetstrike book.

Cheers

Got a question for the old school fluff meisters.

Crimson fists have their left gauntlet painted red, veterans have both painted red.
Librarians have all Blue (ultramarine or close to it) armour except for their left shoulder pad which retains their chapter colour and symbol.

Would a Crimson Fist Librarian have red Gauntlets or not?

How old school do you want? As far as I knew they all had a single red gauntlet... :P

Aaah, the mutability of fluff...  Freak!

When the CF first appeared (slap bang on the cover of 1st ed 40K) the thing about librarians being Ultramarines blue had yet to be fixed - they were just the colour of the rest of the chapter.

I would say both, as a librarian is a veteran and senior member of staff

Cool Night lords.... Blood Angels 2nd Ed. Paint scheme?! Did you fall off your bike?...

Oh and the things about Librarians is that some chapters like Salamanders only have a blue shoulder pad... in the current retconned unto death fluff... who cares it what GW says it is. Even if next week it isn't... Grieve, get Angry, Try to bargain the eventually accept... its a natural part of the grief process, moving on now.

Since the scouts are all but done, I am slowly now working on a 5 man Thunderhammer / Storm Shield Termie Squad. Pics to come as more get completed in the near future.
